adjusting to being a stay-at-home mom without hubby's help in the daytime again...

So DH officially started his new job yesterday. This week is hectic for him, so he's having to work a bit later and get up to speed before key people leave for conferences and vacations next week.

I'm very glad to have DH working again and to be staying at my house, but I'm having to adjust all over to being a SAHM with zero breaks during the daytime. Tessa doesn't nap; she always was a poor sleeper & gave that up by the time she was one (and my sister's nearly 5 year old son still takes a 2 hr. nap every afternoon - not fair!). My mom says Tessa has very much the personality of my youngest sister when she was a toddler - no naps, fights sleep, hates bedtime, clingy, doesn't want to play on her own, wants your attention 24/7. It is exhausting. Today, I had to plant some herbs or they would start suffering and of course, Tessa got dirty too. I was starving by the time I was done, and Tessa was filthy, so I had to combine a bath/shower for the 2 of us because I couldn't wait lunch. So that was interesting, with all the toys in the tub and her helping me lather on the shaving cream and trying to be careful shaving (I couldn't wait shaving, I had trouble falling asleep last night because I needed the shave desperately.) Then, my muscles were spasming (fibromyalgia or whatever acting up), I took a muscle relaxer, and Tessa insisted on a walk to the park at 1 PM in the heat and next to no shade. I was exhausted afterwards, drove to Starbucks and got a mocha with an extra shot of espresso, which at least perked me up (I had taken this muscle relaxer in the past and knew it didn't really affect me to drive but did make me a little more less energetic) but isn't the best thing for my anxiety. I kept thinking...at least 3 more HOURS until DH gets home?! OMG, I'm gonna die. I have AF too, I started yesterday, so that makes it doubly rough on me. AF always will pick the worst time to show up.

It's always a mixed blessing...since DH does help well with watching Tessa, at least giving me some breaks in the day to shower, make lunch, do the laundry, etc. I'd forgotten how difficult it was with a toddler underfoot.
