This no nap thing is getting old!

Tessa has not napped most of this past week, and it is so hard.  She's tired and needs the nap but won't sleep.  It is wearing me out!

This week, I've tried to be better about doing weights at the gym.  I did a good weight routine this morning and walked/ran nearly 5 miles on the treadmill.  Then, while I had the motivation, I cleaned up my office (we're planning to use part of it to help with the overflow of toys).  That was a big job, especially lugging books around (I have books everywhere since I'm an avid reader).  Some books I'm going to store and others take to sell to the used book store.  Between the weights, no naps, and cleaning the office today, I am bushed!  We're doing more organizing tomorrow.  I am hoping I will get a Kindle for my birthday and maybe it will begin to cut down on the number of books I need space to store, we'll see.

my tall skinny girl!

Tessa turned 2 last month, and we delayed her 2 yr. appt. for about a month until our COBRA insurance coverage kicked in.  I took her to the doctor today and found out she weighs only 23 3/4 lb. (7%) and is 35 3/4" tall (94%), head 53%.  Hubby is very tall (6'4", that is where she gets the height from; I'm 5'4" tall).  The doc said it would not surprise her if Tessa ends up 5'10" tall or even around 6 feet!  Good grief!  She also got a CBC which I hadn't been prepared for and which Tessa HATED and 2 vaccines.

After the doctor, we had lunch at Panera Bread and Tessa spilled soup all over herself then went to Barnes & Noble to play with the Thomas the Train table they have in the kids' section there.

If I never see another Fisher Price Little Person again...

...it will be too soon!  This is all Tessa wants to play all day lately, and she wants someone to play with her.  Before my husband lost his job, I had the bright idea to buy a Fisher Price Little People Main Street toys and a mixed lot of cars and people.  I don't think they sell this Main Street toy anymore, but Tessa loves it because you can drive cars through the garage and out on the opposite side through the car wash.  She sits on one side and I sit on the other.  The problem is she can drive these cars in circles literally for hours on end.  I finally convinced her to move her Little People setup to the den, where I could at least watch some shows I TiVo'ed.  Little People was OK, the first month or two of playing it, but after about 6 months of it, it gets REAL old.  Today before her nap, Tessa did show a glimmer of interest in a craft jar she got for Christmas so I'm hoping maybe she will want to do some crafting.

I'm tired today, I have been since arriving home from California.  I think some of it's the time difference (it seemed easier to adjust going there than coming home), and the other part of it is adjusting to not having MIL help with Tessa, I think!  Luckily, both MIL and SIL gave me Starbucks cards for Christmas, and I think I will use them to get a mocha today.  That would be nice with the cold weather we're having.   I don't know what the heck is up with that.  They are predicting teens one of these nights, and I only remember one or two occasions when it got this cold in this area of Texas while growing up here.
