Sad news for an old friend of mine

I woke up this morning and checked my facebook page to learn that a good friend of mine from grade school & high school lost her father overnight.  He was battling some pancreas & kidney problems for several months now and had had an operation a few days ago where they had to shock him to bring him back during the operation.  For awhile, it looked like he might pull through, but then things rapidly went downhill for him and he passed around midnight this morning.  He was a good man and a great father to my friend and was only 60.  Please keep her & her whole family in your prayers.

This no nap thing is getting old!

Tessa has not napped most of this past week, and it is so hard.  She's tired and needs the nap but won't sleep.  It is wearing me out!

This week, I've tried to be better about doing weights at the gym.  I did a good weight routine this morning and walked/ran nearly 5 miles on the treadmill.  Then, while I had the motivation, I cleaned up my office (we're planning to use part of it to help with the overflow of toys).  That was a big job, especially lugging books around (I have books everywhere since I'm an avid reader).  Some books I'm going to store and others take to sell to the used book store.  Between the weights, no naps, and cleaning the office today, I am bushed!  We're doing more organizing tomorrow.  I am hoping I will get a Kindle for my birthday and maybe it will begin to cut down on the number of books I need space to store, we'll see.

my tall skinny girl!

Tessa turned 2 last month, and we delayed her 2 yr. appt. for about a month until our COBRA insurance coverage kicked in.  I took her to the doctor today and found out she weighs only 23 3/4 lb. (7%) and is 35 3/4" tall (94%), head 53%.  Hubby is very tall (6'4", that is where she gets the height from; I'm 5'4" tall).  The doc said it would not surprise her if Tessa ends up 5'10" tall or even around 6 feet!  Good grief!  She also got a CBC which I hadn't been prepared for and which Tessa HATED and 2 vaccines.

After the doctor, we had lunch at Panera Bread and Tessa spilled soup all over herself then went to Barnes & Noble to play with the Thomas the Train table they have in the kids' section there.
